An innovative new adapted framework called 'Art of the possible' based on data science and facilitation to navigate away from the fears of uncertainty & unknown and re-imagine the future.
This session aims to bring out ways to navigate with a step-by-step scientific framework inspired by intelligence based on data science called the 'Art of the Possible’.
Come join us in this fun-filled journey as the magic of 'Art of the possible' unfolds ways to navigate in the disruptive world to 'shape the future of facilitation' with us.
When conversations are not going well, how do we do real-time intervention? In this session, we will introduce a model to help discern the timing and direction for interventions. We will experiment with a scenario and harvest insights for future cases. The aim is to build the capability to intervene in real-time and facilitate conversations toward constructive dynamics that pave the way for fruitful outcomes.
NormALL is a session designed for people interested in creating processes that are inclusive of a neuro-diverse audience. The session includes learning about basic neuro-diversity, and how traditional techniques and processes can be modified to make everyone feel comfortable and ready to engage.
One of the most valuable gifts you can give yourself is the gift of possibility. Imagine your life as a canvas, ready to be painted with the colors of your dreams and aspirations. Creating your future self and your business 10 years from now isn't just wishful thinking; it's a purposeful journey. How do we as facilitators shape the future of facilitation as we wake up to what’s possible or even 10 years and more from now? Who do we need to BE to create a sustainable facilitation practice?
In this session, we seek to ignite the ideal inner core behaviours that powers our vision for our facilitation practice. Let's take this journey together.
If you have 3+ years’ experience in facilitation and want to create the best version of yourself, this workshop is for you. Two diverse facilitators are your guides for self-reflecting and connecting.
This workshop explores how serious games can be powerful tools for fostering a spectrum of connections and enhance overall wellbeing. The participants will engage with serious games designed to build personal, intrapersonal, nature, workplace, emotional, intellectual and community connections. We will delve into the theory behind these connections, discuss the types of "capitals" each of these connections represent, and provide hands-on experience with innovative games that can be implemented in diverse settings. The serious games will also explore connections with nature and role in sustainable well-being.

The goal of this workshop is to realise the power of imagination in addressing social challenges or 'problems' in today's world and to recognise the power of youth in facilitation. The workshop design incorporates an original short clip and an imagining exercise where participants close their eyes and reflect on the experience of being a refugee. Towards the end, participants' internal processes will be gathered to help them determine their next steps. The workshop follows the ORID process of the focused conversation method, enhancing group learning through shared feelings and reflections. Participants will be given sufficient time and space for personal reflection, connecting their thoughts, emotions, and experiences to their decisions. The workshop's uniqueness lies in having a university student, initially unfamiliar with facilitation, as a co-facilitator who created an event to raise awareness of 'climate refugees'. Involving youth as a co-facilitator leverages the energy and adaptability of the future generation, aligning with the workshop's theme and adding a unique cross-generational aspect.
In a world of constant change, staying relevant is crucial. When internal change lags behind external change, individuals fall behind. While this is cognitively understood, many struggle to implement real change due to habit, inertia, and fear. With new technologies disrupting our lives, we must adapt, including in facilitation. Facilitators need a framework to 'play' with new technologies and tools to enhance their skills. This workshop will provide participants with:
- A simple, inviting framework to experiment with any technology or change facilitators wish to incorporate into their work or life.
- An immediate action plan for using a specific technology tool to improve their skills.
This session will invite participants to explore and discuss together the latest trends in the practice of facilitation by using a dedicated tool: the Trends Radar.
By joining this session, professional facilitators will be able to stay ahead of the curve and enhance their practices, along with learning to use the Trends Radar as a new tool for their sessions.
We know that a huge component of successful facilitation is that the group have committed to participating and have accepted the facilitator as their guide in a process. Without underestimating the value of a professional facilitator, what can we do as facilitators to ‘desacralise’ facilitation (Le Borgne 2023), enabling teams to create a deeper contract with the facilitator, co-design the process, and deepen their insight and relationships with each other?
In a world that is constantly evolving to amplify diverse voices in various spaces, it is expected that there will continue to be an increase in convening conflicting groups or individuals within the same group with varying opinions and worldviews. The session is built on the concept of conflict transformation through facilitation. Theoretically, it is underpinned by a journey of self-awareness and clarity evolving from self-absorption on an individual level and supporting a transition to increased attentiveness, openness and responsiveness to others.
It is important for facilitators to be prepared for the dynamics of the group to evolve in the course of their time together and every group is unique in its journey while still staying true to one of the key models of group development – Tuckman’s model of Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing, and Adjourning. This session will help facilitators stay consciously aware, helping them to question which stage their group is at and how best to play their role.
The use of technological collaborative tools are seeing an unprecedented rise thanks in part to the Covid-19 pandemic – which “forced” more people to turn to remote ways of working therefore creating the space for those who may not usually be heard to have the space to speak and contribute to conversations. The session will utilise online tools for collaboration, visual polls, assessment, liberating structures, capturing of reflective processes and consensus building exercises.
Lastly, the session will provide resources to help facilitators to tap the productive power of conflict within group dynamics.

This session will explore one key concept - the change potential in stuck situations arising from acquiring increases in agency via authentic and courageous Role Reversal with 'the other'...of the conferring of the 'gift' of truly seeing 'the other'.
It will provide some provocations for you in your role as a Facilitator, Coach, Leader, Influencer etc, where increases in agency is beneficial.
We will explore hints of what is the impact of this: (1) on shifts in state, movement and system vitality; and (2) on increases in influence, in surfacing new action potential.
In today's fast-paced and technology-driven environment, it is crucial to tap into our body's innate wisdom to enhance our understanding, creativity, and communication skills.
'Accessing wisdom of the Body, Mind, and Heart in co-creating the future' is an innovative program designed to explore the important connection of the body, mind, and heart in co-creating the emerging future. This workshop will deliver a unique experiential learning process, combining movement and art through the 'Dance on Paper' method, aiming to unlock the full potential of facilitators and participants alike.
The emerging human-centric view of AI is reshaping traditional notions surrounding the fundamental components of progress. Professional Facilitators looking to embrace this shift can leverage the extensively studied IDEAS framework (published in HBR). This framework emphasizes five key pillars within the realm of technology: intelligence, data, expertise, architecture, and strategy.
This workshop enables facilitators to explore avenues for effectively integrating these aspects in their work and take their game to the next level.

Join us in The Future Lab and be part of co-creating the next era of facilitation.
In today's complex world, ideas need to be thoroughly discussed, understood, and evaluated in order to make good decisions. Nevertheless, facilitators often rush through the prioritization process. This rapid prioritization can lead to poorly understood decisions and a lack of commitment from the group. By spending more time on the convergence phase, facilitators can foster clarity and commitment in group decisions, which is crucial in navigating the complexities of our time. The session lasts 100 minutes.

Based on years of research on organization, we found the more the organizational structures are, the more important system design takes part in. In our session, we want to explore with participants about system design for future organizations. A traditional and classical framework "Social Process Triangle" will be the core to evoke conversation. Combine this thinking with our role as facilitators, critical thinking will be invited to the space. Putting down the hammer in our hands, we might see more possibilities towards the future.
This workshop will give two messages to facilitators.
One is a more flexible view of the 'neutrality required by facilitators within the team'. How well could internal facilitators, as members of the team, keep neutrality during leading their workshops in context of daily work?
And the other is the use of 'sociocracy' to more systematically and actively intervene in the development of the customer organization as facilitators.
Now that the term 'organizational development' has become a cliché, there is a movement to describe the organizational development trends needed in the VUCA era with a new term, 'organizational transformation'.
Facilitators should expand their role in the 'OT' process, including establishing shared purpose, establishing systematic and practical decision-making norms, selecting the right person, designing an organizational structure that enables two-way communication, and establishing a future-oriented personnel evaluation model and so on.
Expand the role of facilitators with 'sociocarcy' for the future.
The workshop will provide some successful cases that have been applied to the team organizations of big companies such as Samsung Electronics.
This workshop is dedicated to the approaches, behaviors, and techniques facilitators can use when working with AI-enabled participants. It will explore situations where participants rely on AI in their phones, computers, or digital platforms to craft responses and generate ideas. This presents challenges for facilitators—not only in terms of processing significantly more responses and ideas, but also in addressing the potential loss of participant engagement and buy-in.
To address these challenges, the workshop will share a framework that helps facilitators understand and create scenario paths to effectively incorporate AI-generated content into group decision-making.
The main goal of the workshop is to provide a framework that equips participants to handle any new and unpredictable occurrences of AI in the future.
This dynamic workshop addresses the critical need for facilitators to adapt to the digital landscape. Participants will dive deep into the nuances of virtual communication, exploring how to become expert communicators, active listeners, and emotionally intelligent facilitators in online settings. The session is packed with interactive exercises and practical strategies, empowering facilitators to create engaging, high-quality virtual experiences. By the end, participants will have a robust toolkit for confident and effective on-camera facilitation.
We all know how important it is to have meaningful open dialogue about race, poverty, oppression and how these concepts have shown up in our personal and professional lives as well as systemically. Yet we still see harm done in these dialogue spaces due to lack of preparation, insincere intentions, mediocre facilitation or just being new at it. In this session, you will learn by doing. Participants will be introduced to a framework for listening and for understanding racism.
Facilitator tips, tools and techniques will be employed followed by a reflection of the experience and an opportunity to identify at least one resource shared you can use in your context. The primary tools that will be used in the session are group agreements, text study protocols and a variety of reflection tools.

Inspired by the ideas of Brene Brown, Heather Plett, Nora Bateson, and others, we got curious about how vulnerability can influence our facilitator’s stance, the space we hold, and the group we work with. So, we started the investigation journey in our facilitation practice with Ukrainian groups, turning the concepts of vulnerability and holding space into a live experience. In this experiential workshop, we would like to share our findings with colleagues and investigate how these ideas resonate in a global context.
We need to keep growing as facilitators to ensure the sustainable value of facilitation looking further the future. To catch up with rapid change of technologies, culture, social perspectives, our growth should always go ahead of the time. It needs the leap frog growth.
When we reflect on our past career, any of us must have experienced non-linear growth, such as jumping up to higher capability stage, thanks to bold challenge, high-pressured task, discovering hidden talent. It is argued that we can purposely plan to bring such non-linear growth.
In this workshop, participants reflect on their own growth experiences, find key factors to make us jump up, set the goal we should acquire the capability and plan how to achieve leap frog growth.
As individuals all of us have triggering experiences where we have reacted in ways which may not be the best in the given situation. These triggers could leave us hurt, feeling angry, or any other emotion which are not positive for the situation. Being self-aware of what triggers impact us, helps us to be able to manage the triggering situation. The program helps participants to reflect a triggering event in the past, use an innovative framework, developed by the facilitators, to help them manage the triggering situation in future.
'Sustenance by tolerance' suggests that the key to a thriving, sustainable society lies in the quiet power of tolerance. This isn't just about accepting differences, but truly embracing diversity, understanding other perspectives, and extending empathy. But is it really that simple?
Have you ever found yourself tolerating someone or something? Or perhaps you were the one being tolerated? Why did it happen, and how did it make you feel?
Curious to dive deeper into these questions? Join this session for an intriguing exploration of tolerance and its hidden power.
What questions are we unraveling?

The practice of facilitation has undergone a significant transformation with the massive shift to online work. Remote work has increased fivefold since before the pandemic, with nearly half of the workforce now in hybrid or fully remote settings. This seismic change has profound implications for how we work and interact.
During the pandemic, many facilitators were forced to quickly adapt their practices to the virtual world, raising important questions about the core competencies of facilitation. Are the skills needed the same for in-person and online facilitation? How might they differ? As we continue to navigate this new landscape, these questions remain largely unanswered, and facilitators are often left figuring things out on the fly.
The IAF developed core facilitation competencies pre-COVID. And while the core principles remain the same, the practices of virtual facilitation have evolved.
This interactive workshop will explore the changing nature of facilitation in the digital age and what impact this has on core facilitation competencies, bringing us to a new understanding about what is required to thrive in this new landscape. The workshop will dive into key questions such as:
